This review is extremely bittersweet for me. I would assume the author will understand the seriousness of my statement. This book yet again cements Flora Lanoux as one of my favorite authors. Her books are each very unique and yet have a thread that unites them. Great story, check. Great writing, check. Great main characters, check. Great side characters, check. Also ever present for me are the amazing areas she visits in her books. I consider them characters unto themselves, check! What I really enjoyed with this edition was a new little gem...humor. I also loved that our gal was literally clueless up to the very end. I would definitely read any and all books written by this author. Great Job!
I also see that she has TWO new books uploaded but unfortunately for me I will be unable to read them as they are not in paperback. This is very frustrating for me as I'd love to get my hands on them but I can't. Paperback readers still exist out here and I would love to be included in the party.

Very good read and funny
This is a very beautiful love story & I highly recommend it!
I am picky. I rarely give a 5 star review. And though this book is, in most ways, a sweet little romance novel, it is also a cut above that. The author has gone out of her way to write a thinking book, a story that is deeper than the regular happily ever after fluff that we are looking for escape in. Flora Lanoux, you knocked my socks off with the discussion the Hero has with the counselor about the kirin. I was sexually abused as a child and reading about the heroine's abuse and her overcoming of it spoke of reality to me. Ms. Lanoux, I applaud you for taking on the craziness of media force-feeding their own ideals onto the populace. Women are (particularly) buying into a load of rubbish that 50 (seriously, studies show it could be as few as 50 rich men/women) bigwig media moguls are stuffing the public with in regards to beauty, sexuality, self worth, etc. We have this bizarre new trend toward regularizing misogyny, bondage, domination, sadism and masochism....but even that is twisted in media to the point where books and movies are making it appear normal for women to be kidnapped and forcibly brought into utter rape and BDSM relationships. There are no safety zones in these stories, there are no safe words. People in the BDSM lifestyle have come forward to say that a particularly popular book series( that has recently been turned into a movie series) is portraying the BDSM lifestyle wrongly; no safe words and utter control of the man over the woman. Thus, we are seeing more and more objectification of women. Women are being told that being treated like a sex toy or a dolly is perfectly normal and healthy. And the women are actually buying into it! What a crock!! I was so shocked to find these things thoughtfully discussed within this book. The writings don't amount to a huge discussion, really it was about a page or so, but it is so wonderfully written that I wanted to stand up and cheer!!! Thank you for putting into print the very thoughts and concerns I've been mulling of late. This book was a surprise to me!
