Emma Barton works hard at her job with the magazine company and nothing is more important to her than becoming managing editor and she has a plan in place to getting what she wants but when her boss hires a new Tech guy Emma feels uncomfortable because she's been keeping a secret and if the new guy finds out and reports it to the boss everything she's worked so hard for could be ruined...

My Review:
Lia Fairchild has done it again!!! Don't take your eyes off this author her writing talent knows no limits! I've never had a book sweep me off my feet and take me on such an emotional roller coaster quite the way this one has done there were moments of pure laughter, gasps and jaw dropping, but the best moment of all is when I got to the ending and my heart just soared! You couldn't have asked for a more perfect and beautiful ending! I had tears of joy overflowing in my eyes I felt like I was sharing in the character's moment of happiness! This story is so captivating and touching it really pulls on your heart strings! I started and finished it in one sitting never putting it down it was just too good and each time I thought about stopping I just couldn't do it.. I said to myself just one more page because I know something great is about to happen on the next page and I have to find out what it is I can't miss it! And I'm really glad I didn't stop reading when I wanted to because this one scene in chapter 23 BLEW ME AWAY!! It was totally unexpected and I didn't even see it coming! (Kuddos to the author on keeping your readers hooked and then dropping that HUGE SHOCKER in their laps!! LOL) I kept turning the pages on my kindle wanting more when I realized I already finished the book!! It's definitely a book worth reading and one that I will forever be recommending... It's entertaining and enjoyable and has something for everyone even a guy could read and fall in love with this book too! You really couldn't have asked for a better book or a more perfect and fun set of characters! It's a story about friendships, love, secrets, and learning to open up and trust people for the first time!

Emma vs the Tech Guy eBook Lia Fairchild Reviews

I really enjoyed this book. I pretty much sat down and read it straight through. The whole story line is brilliant I never really saw the twist at the end coming. I knew something wasn't right but I couldn't put my finger on it the whole way through the book. The characters are perfect they work together so well. There is a character that pretty much everyone can relate to in the book on some level which makes it even better. I was reading most of the book at a very slow vendor event and it took all I had at times to not sit there and laugh out loud. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good light hearted book that has some humor and drama to it.
This was a breezy, easy read with humorous moments, especially with the minor characters, Pop, Jayne, Adam, and the basketball game. The new cover is nicer and let's me know this is chick-lit and not romance.

The main character, Emma Barton, is a married woman, but she is attracted to the new Tech Guy. Her husband is a very nice and caring guy who cooks and does the laundry. Since I don't want to give away the ending, I'll just say, I do not hold stereotypes about men being nurturing and therefore did not see the so-called big secret Emma held.

The other mystery was not hard, but it was a subplot. However I did enjoy the funny moments, like when Emma walked in on Pop talking sweet nothings behind a closed door and made assumptions. The snarky remarks were funny and as well as the metaphors used to describe people, so it was an enjoyable read.
This book is difficult to review without giving spoilers because my biggest problem with it revolved around the 'big reveal' at the end. The concept behind the book is a complicated one that would be difficult to pull off successfully, and I think the author did a slightly above average, but still not quite good enough job at it. I spent the first half of the book confused about where it was going. I had thought the book was a romance novel when I bought it, but when I found out the main character was married, I got confused. I lost interest the more Emma went on about how great her husband was since I didn't see how or why a romance was going to be introduced (and it was a bit hard to get interest in the first place, since I wasn't a huge fan of Emma's 'voice' at first). The middle of the book was boring to me because I felt adrift from the characters due to my lack of understanding of the premise (beyond just 'Emma learning about herself'), and felt like the book had been mis-billed and I'd been cheated. When I finally slogged through the middle, though, I got back into the book. The last 25% was a really good read, and I liked how the reveal turned out and that I wasn't too far off in some of my guesses of what it could be. I'm not sure if the author would have been better off revealing the secret earlier or not, or possibly bigger hints would have helped (hints were there, but they were subtle)--perhaps maybe just not have misled us by thinking it was something 'the tech guy' could have found on her computer, since, as far as I could tell, it wasn't.
This was not a cozy, which is all I have been reading for the past few months. I enjoyed this book very much because there was no murder to solve! No one to blame for getting the main character into being a detective.

It was just a story about Emma and how she has worked her way to the top in the magazine publishing business. Leaving others in the dust.

But her world is turned up side down when the owner of the magazine hires a new tech Guy to help her with the new launch of the new magazine that is due out in a few weeks!

She is upset! She does not want anyone to find out the secrets she has hidden for so long!

That is when I began to think the book was a mystery! But everything finally came together for Emma and I fell in love with everyone in the book

The story was well written with just the right amount of suspense! Well worth the time to read.
